Someone else but Me!

From today on I'm going to tune in to IVY LEAGUE ANALYTICAL ENGLISH radio program and note down some interesting points that I've heard.

Title : Walking in a winter wonderland

今日筆記:

1. up to snuff (adj) 狀況良好的。

e.g. After having a sound sleep I'm feeling up to snuff now!

2. a plethora of + N 大量的~

e.g. Taiwan is country with a plethora of attractions.

3.build ice sculpture 做冰雕。 動詞是用Build~不確定是否能用make，但用build是最保險的安全用法。

4.sip on/at + 飲料。  啜飲。

5.concoction (n) 混合物。

6.caribou (n) 原意是北美馴鹿。但是在北美也是一種飲料，以往殖民時代時是以馴鹿血+威士忌作成，通常是樵夫或者獵人在喝的，以求在冬天保暖，現在沒那麼可怕，改用紅酒+威士忌+魁北克的名產--楓糖做成。換言之: It's a concoction of red wine, whiskey and maple syrup.

7. a joke from Wisconsin :

There are only two seasons in a year. One is winter, the other is construction. 

8. beaver tails (n) a kind of doughy pastry/ a big flat donut 加拿大的一種美食，長的很像肥厚版的牛舌餅。在美國也有類似的食物，但美國人稱之為 elephant ear。
